Build or read a weld symbol — every weld type SDS2 details: fillet, square, V, bevel, U, J, flare-V, flare-bevel, plug, backing weld, backing bar, and stud, on either side or both, with root opening, groove angle, effective throat, contour, finish, stitch length-pitch, backup welds, field flag, all-around, and tail text.
AWS A2.4 convention: arrow-side info is BELOW the reference line, other-side info ABOVE. Size (with effective throat in parentheses) to the LEFT of the symbol; length, or length-pitch for stitch welds, to the RIGHT. Root opening inside the symbol mouth; groove angle beyond it. Weld types match the SDS2 detailing set: fillet, square, V, bevel, U, J, flare-V, flare-bevel, plug, backing weld, backing bar, and stud. Contour marks: flush, convex, concave, and smooth toes (SDS2). Effective throat prints in parentheses after the size (SDS2 style: 1/4 (1/2)); stitch welds print length@spacing (12@2). Stud welds: use Length for the stud count and Stitch spacing for the pitch. This is an interpretation / detailing aid only — not a substitute for the contract weld spec, the EOR, or AWS D1.1.
