Truck / load rough weight

What this calculator does

Up to four line items — unit weight and quantity each — added into a load total in pounds and tons. It does one thing: it adds, so you have a number for the carrier conversation. Routing, permits, axle loads and rigging are the carrier's and the rigger's calls, not the tool's.

Worked example

12 pieces at 780 lb and 8 pieces at 1,560 lb: 9,360 + 12,480 = 21,840 lb = 10.92 tons.

Common questions

Where do the unit weights come from?

From the steel weight calculator, your BOM, or the fabricator's piece list. This page does not look shapes up — it only adds what you give it.

Does it tell me if the load is legal?

No. Legal weight depends on the truck, the axles, the route and the state. Give the carrier the total and let them plan it.

Why only four items?
